MORROW and MAURO (spoken the same way) . both of these names are in my family. Some took the name spelled one way and the majority spelled it MAURO. they all spoke it the same. It was changed upon arrival on Ellis Island. Some say neither was the original. Anyone know? -----Original Message----- From: Amy Brown <sab@tallassee.net> To: SURNAME-QUERY-L <SURNAME-QUERY-L@rootsweb.com>; ROOTS-L <ROOTS-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Thursday, March 12, 1998 9:43 PM Subject: Fw: MORROW, James M. / Jackson's Gap, Tallapoosa Co. i am looking for the orphanage that was in or around MORRISTOWN, NJ. it existed in 1924 when my grandmothers mother died. my grandmother was 12 at the time and the 3 girls were all packed off to the orphanage for 6 years until my g-mother was legally old enough to take the others out . my grandfather had to work everyday and had no way to care for them. orphanages were an option back then. but he didn't have to sign their lives away to the state. they went back to his house when they were able and at his discretion. my g-mother says it was a great place to grow up. never had a problem. lots of friends and the people who ran it were like mom and dad to them. she gets a little indignant even today if someone mentions orphanages in a bad light. although she does know some were bad. her experience was very good. r -----Original Message----- From: James Chappell <rogerfax@gte.net> To: SURNAME-QUERY-L@rootsweb.com <SURNAME-QUERY-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Thursday, March 12, 1998 11:29 PM Subject: ORPHANAGES >Hello Everyone > >I am trying to get a list of ORPHANAGES in the state of PHILADELPHIA. Trying to find information on parents of Harris and Lowe. Harris and Lowe were born in the 1870s or 1880s in Georgia (probably Harris County), since my great-grandfather, Jesse Herbert, was born in 1902. Their children were Jesse Herbert Harris, Walter Harris, Nancy Harris, and Lucy Harris. Ed Herbert is probably Edmond Herbert, since my grand father's name was Claude Edmond, and the name Claude came from his maternal grandfather. Thanks for any help.
Any info would be helpful. They had one known child, Lossie Davis Lisles, who married Roxie Odella Baker.

If a computer is not a proprietary system it can be fully upgraded. A proprietary system is a company computer such as Compact, Packard Bell or Ast. They are made with differences of mother board and other things so that standard parts do not fit them. Since models are changed every year the parts from one year do not readily fit the past year. These systems can have more memory added or a modem ,but an upgrade means buying a new main board for almost the cost of a new computer. If the system is customized or non-proprietary then everything is standard and can be changed. my computer has been upgraded 3 times. From 286 to pentium 75. From 8 ram to 32 ect. This has cost less than one bargain new computer. I can still upgrade to a 200 mhz pentium with only changing my main board for under $200.00 Old computers given to him for disposing are given to older people also with 90 days free lessons on how to operate a computer. A second place is they are given to schools or families of low income. Happy to learn other persons feel the same way > > > > ==== SURNAME-QUERY Mailing List ==== > > Reminder!
