    1. Surname Query
    2. Karen A. Morrison
    3. My name is Karen A. Dufala-Morrison. I am trying to track information down on my grandfather and grandmother. My grandfather's name was Alexander George Dufala. He was born on September 29, 1893 in the Austro-Hungarian Empire. He immigrated to this country circa 1906-1915. He settled in Fayette County, Pennsylvania. My grandmothers name was Catherine Franks, having been anglicized from Ferencz, Ference, or Ferenc. She was born on November 14, 1900 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania. My great-grandparents immigrated from the Austro-Hungarian Empire sometime in the 1800's. They ran a rooming house of immigrants. That's where she met my grandfather. Her sister, Mary, married my grandfathers brother Andrew. If anyone could give any leads it would be much appreciated as I have contacted the National Archives, Census Bureau and such and could get nowhere. Can someone help? My e-mail address is: dodge2@ix.netcom.com. If anyone has any information it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

    1. Re: SURNAME-QUERY-D Digest V98 #132
    2. Just my opinion, but I MUCH prefer individual emails, as I find the digests difficult to read through. I belong to ROOTS-L and I find myself often just deleting the whole digest before I read through them. I *wish* there was an individual email option with ROOTS-L. 3. To: Marilynn Marrs O'Brien- This may be of little help, but since your inquiry mentions Robert James Marrs who was married in LaClede County, MO, the following info may provide something from which you could search backward: I grew up in Springfield, MO with Jerry Raymond Marrs. Jerry was born 2/16/34 in Springfield, and died on 1/31/98. He is buried in Hazelwood Cemetery, there (which has an on-site office). His parents were Raymond and Ruby Curtis Marrs. Jerry is survived by his wife Betty, son David, of the home, and sister, Jane -who lives in Fair Grove, MO (just north of Springfield). Jerry graduated from Central High School and Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield and served in the Navy. Springfield is the county seat of Greene County; LaClede County is just northeast of Springfield and the seat is (I think), Lebanon. Donn Searle Houston, TX
