    3. Please, does anyone have the address for obtaining birth records prior to 1880 for Stony Point, N.Y.? I have tried the "Where to Write for Vital Records-New York web site, with no luck. They say to write the Registrar of Vital Statistics in the city where the event took place if it was prior to 1880. I did that and got my letter back, stamped attempted, not known. To make things worse, there are about 4 Stony Points in New York! TIA Virginia

    1. NAHILL, Irl>NY>where else?
    2. 'I am looking for Nahills, anywhere, anytime. There seem to be very few oft hem. My great-grandmother MARY NAHILL married my great-grandfather PATRICK O'BRIEN either just before they left County Clare in Ireland during the Potato Famine or sometime after they got here. I know they settled in New York-Pennsylvania area, at least part of the time right on the border at Limestone, south of Olean. The Nahills in Ireland were a branch of the O'Neill clan or sept or family. they were not many in number. Apparently only a few got to this country. I suspect that some of them may have changed their name to Nail or Neal. Mary Nahill O'Brien died around the turn of the century and is buried, supposedly, in the Titusville-Oiltown area of Pennsylvania. Anyone recognize this name or this family? love joan

    3. I just want to say thanks to a lot of you who put all your surnames (in the messages) in all caps. Many of us are on multiple lists and don't have time to read through a whole message (we get over 300 e-mails per day), but some do try to scan a message for our surnames, in case they aren't listed in the subject. If the surnames aren't in all caps, I delete for lack of time to read the whole thing. I know most of the ones I am talking about have already deleted this, since it had no capitalized surnames in it. Also, I want to say a big thanks to SgtGeorge, as I know from experience that those who complain most are usually the ones who would NEVER try to do what he is doing and enjoy being complainers. They obviously think trying to run a list should be easy. I don't want the job, because I don't have the time. That is why I say thank you for doing what I can't do. If you have web access, there are some suggested guidelines to help with using these e-mail lists at http://members.delphi.com/timcarter If you don't have web access, let me know and I will send them to you.
