I'm 2 days late Do you still need the look-up If so let me know Maizie
Half the messages I get from this list is the rules and regulations. Give me a break. How about the answers to the questions that are asked. No I've got a better idea. Lets everyone flood this list with messages saying please respond to me too, so the rest of us can have the answer, or are answers TOP SECRET. Sorry I forgot rule 17 sec. 5 paragraph 18 says WE can't do that. Rule 128 sec.472 paragragh 506 says its ok for the SGT. too flood this list with bulls?"#. Who do you think you are. Hello, you're the list moderater unless you forgot. Im so fed up with your games. Your need to take a step back and look at what you are doing. Why dont you create a new list that all your wonderful little robot followers who meet yor every demand can join and only give them the address to send e-mail. You know there are people out there that are new to mailing lists or make a mistake or overexcited about making a connection. Why don't you personally e-mail them with the 2 to 6 messages a day. WOW now thats an idea. Im so tired of your crap. I come home late at night hoping for a connection or a new avenue to go down and I have to delete 2 to 6 messages EVERY NIGHT from the SGT. I ussually don't even post my messages. Don't think I ever posted a message to this list. Another thing to all the people out there who agree with me. If you do not see a post from me by wed. afternoon you will know what type of a guy the SGT. really is. Because he will have unsubscribed me for voicing my opinion. The only reason I will not unsubscribe is I'm waiting for the right connection to my family history. Hopefully I can last longer on this list then the SGT. the unspoken voice

Send it to me at my personal email address, which is in the FROM: header in every email I send. Comments on this thread must stop. Email me personally if you must. SgtGeorge Listowner

MY 6th great grand parents, John HOUSTON (born abt 1680 in Ireland) and wife Margaret CUNNINGHAM, came to America from Ireland abt 1735. With them were five of their children and his mother. They settled first in Pa, then Augusta Co. VA. Three of their children are my 5th great grand parents; Samuel HOUSTON, Mathew HOUSTON (Vet of Rev. War) and Isabella HOUSTON who married William GILLESPIE (Vet of Rev War). Samuel HOUSTON ( Born in Ireland 1728) married Elizabeth McCROSKEY 1753/4. Their son, William (born 1767) married Mary BLACK (dau of Joseph BLACK who signed the Tn constitution) in Green Co. TN. William and Mary's son John "Jack" HOUSTON (born abt 1800) married Martha Lyle GILLESPIE in Blount Co. TN in1817. Her father was Capt. James GILLESPIE (BORN1771) son of William GILLESPIE and Isabella HOUSTON--- John "Jack" and Martha HOUSTON along with her father, James GILLESPIE, were amoung the early settlers of Shelby Co. TN. Their son, William Byrd HOUSTON, moved to Poinsett Co. Arkansas in1856. James GILLESPIE moved to Pine Bluff, AR. I would like to make contact with anyone who is researching these families. I will gladly share what I have collected. Jean Pasmore. [email protected]

You make a good point in the last sentence; however, it ignores the problem we are constantly faced with. If each and every reply came back to the List, rather than to an individual, this would probable cause the number of daily messages to increase 2- or 3-fold. There are several things we COULD do to make it easier and more con- venient for everyone, but let's face it, reality must overrule the ideal situation most of the time. I COULD allow off-topic threads and even "chit-chat"; lots of users would like that. I could stop insisting that users use proper subject headers. RootsWeb COULD allow users to send attachments or long messages over 15,000 bytes. You see, lots of things COULD be allowed -- but they're not, for valid reasons. Some users may not like the way things are run here on this List, but they just have to accept the fact that it's NOT going to change and get on with their research instead of constantly griping and sending these opposition views here to the List. I have said it before, and I'll say it again, "IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE RULES AND WANT TO DEBATE THEM, DO NOT DO SO ON THIS LIST." Send me your comments, arguments, etc., via PRIVATE email, not back here to the List. As to the Subject, "List is for learning, right?", the List is for establishing contacts for specific surname research. That and nothing more. Nuff said, SgtGeorge Listowner

Patty, My sister married Alba Leroy BARNES who was born and raised in Camden, Benton Co., TN, and they still live there. Unfortunately, not much help for you. There appears to be at least two families of BARNES in the county. Leroy's line goes back to William born about 1803 (?) and came from SC to TN. None of William's children were names Isaiah. There is a possibility that a brother of William's came with him to TN and that 'might be' the ancestor of the other BARNES family. My sister is going to send me (snail mail) some copies of data. If any of it is different than above, I will let you know. Duke Clark [email protected] P. J. Allen wrote: > > ... Isaiah BARNES,SR. > b.1820-25,married Oct.16,1851 Nancy McMURTY in Benton County,TN.
