G'day Vicki - it just proves you're normal (i.e. human like the rest of us!) Don't let it get you down. Often a letter like yours adds a little bit of lightness to the lists which can get a bit carried away at times. Hope your research is going well. A. Hi all, I am becoming desperate to find information on the White/Woodcock/Attenborough connections in East Leake, Notts. Samuel White was born to Martha Woodcock and Samuel White in approx 1815/16 at East Leake. This wastaken from his shipping and death certificates. Martha was the daughter of William Woodcock and Elizabeth Attenborough and were both from East Leake. Elizabeth was the daughter of George Attenborow and Elizabeth. Samuel (1815/16) was married to Lucy Dewsbury of Sutton Bonnington, Notts. They emigrated to Victoria, Australia. Samuel is my biggest problem. Anyone with any information, I would love to hear from. Thanks Margot Alice Springs Australia

It would be nice if all the flaming and unnecessary posts could end. I do believe that those who accept the rules and abide by them should stay. The ones that want to flame the listowner and continue to add insult to injury by violating the rules surely need to leave. It is not acceptable behavior. It's a free service to us and an excellent opportunity to learn. Maybe if everyone stops commenting about the situation, pro or con, it will go away sooner. We're adults. I think we should all be able to get along. Regards, Casey
A very nice user suggested to me that I send the following advice to "newbies" who are just starting out and do not yet have the confidence to try replying to the List. To Newbies: When you read a post that you would like to reply to, go ahead and reply, but delete the TO: address in your reply and type in your own email address. That way, you will almost immediately get back the reply and you can look at it and see how it would look if you sent it to the List. You can also get practice in highlighting, cutting, copying, and pasting without having to be afraid of making mistakes. Once you have the techniques down pat and have gained the necessary confidence, you can "let 'er fly". If you ever need help you can always email me at my personal address (in the From: header in this email). (Thanks Lyn.) SgtGeorge Listowner
I am not responding to flames sent my way here on the list. I am simply ignoring them and manually unsubscribing anyone who, after 2 weeks of warning, persists in his or her disruptive behavior. Plus, the addresses of those users go on the permanent "reject list", meaning they cannot subscribe again and cannot post to the List, without emailing me person- ally and convincing me there is a reason why I should reinstate them. Hi Karen, IGI stands for International Genealogical Index and is put out by the LDS. It covers christenings, and marriages mainly. It also covers lots of diffrent countries. In each country it is usually divided into sections. For example, in England it is broken down into counties. It is important to remember that not all dates taken from the IGI, are accurate. Some I have found to be 10 years out, however it is a valuable resource and a great place to staart. Most libraries, and LDS places have the IGI Hope this helps Margot Alice Springs, Australia At 08:56 AM 9/8/98 -0500, you wrote: >Hello everyone, >I am new at this and have a question...What is IGI? >Thanks for the info. >Karen >[email protected] > > > >==== SURNAME-QUERY Mailing List ==== >Reminder!
