I am adding a page called Lookups to Connect With Surnames. If you have genealogy books, census records, etc., that you do lookups in on a volunteer basis and would like to have that listed on the new page, email me. Tell me your name, email address, and what materials you have. If you have census records, please give the dates, counties, and state. Don't respond unless you do lookups for free. Looking for a REESE family, with a daughter Jean or Billie Jean in the Durant, Oklahoma area about 1947-1948. I have a friend, Mary, who would like to get in touch with birth mother. My friend Mary was named Carol Ann REESE at birth. She was adopted by the WARKENTIN family in Durant, OK about 6 mos after birth in 1948. Her birth name, Carol Ann REESE, then became Mary Lucia WARKENTIN, adopted name. Adopting parents were Euald Carl and Susan Campbell (HENDERSON) WARKENTIN. For medical reasons, Mary would like to contact her birth mother or their family. Any assistance you may give will be greatly appreciated. Jan Fenter [email protected]

Can someone lookup on the emigrant CD the following individuals? I believe they were born somewhere in Vastergotland. Katherine Johanna Carlsson Pearson b. October 15, 1820 in Sweden and d. August 15, 1915 in Rockford, Winnebago County, Illinois. Katherine must have also used the name Johanna. Katherine either came to the US in 1876 or 1881. She lived in Chariton, Lucas County, Iowa until either 1905 or 1915 went she went to stay with her son, Ossian Waldemar Carlson, in Rockford, Winnebago County, Illinois. Ossian Waldemar Carlsson (Carlson) b. August 31, 1859 in Vastergotland, Sweden and d. 1939 in Rockford, Winnebago County, Illinois. Ossian also used Waldemar as a first name. Ossian came to the US in 1876. In 1879-1881, he sailed on several merchant ships as a seaman. From 1881-1890, he was supposedly in the Navy. In 1891, he lived in Newport, Rhode Island. He married my ggrandmother, Clara Josephine Mathilda Carlson, on July 15, 1891 in Newport, Rhode Island. In 1892, he visited his relatives in Chariton, Lucas County, Iowa and then settled in Rockford, Winnebago County, Illinois. He was a member of the Svea Sonner Singing Society. Mrs. Augusta Carlsson (or Carlsdotter) Johnson was the daughter of Katherine Carlson Pearson. She lived in Chariton, Lucas County, Iowa. Carl Carlson (Carlsson) was another son of Katherine who lived in Michigan in 1915. Any information or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Chris

Evidently some users get their email from the SURNAME-QUERY List via the Digest and are just now sending responses to off-topic posts. This started yesterday and I though I would wait at least 24 hours before saying anything. It appears that this poster, and several others, decided NOT to read the notes from me about off-topic postings. Why else would they con- tinue to send this stuff? Anyway, another 24 hours and any users that respond to any off-topic subjects will be summarily unsubscribed by me. Just because users choose not to read Listowner posts and are not aware of the consequences, there can be no claim of ignorance. These posts are innocuous and inconsequential, BUT they continue the trend of using this List as a "chit-chat" room. Why in the world can't users send these things via private email instead of sending them to over 1000 other users who don't want to have to download them?
