According to "New Dictionary of American Family Names" by Elsdon C. Smith, "MULLINS" is Irish and French. One of the meanings is "one who came from Moulins or Moulines (mills), the names of several places in France". It also means "one who ground grain, a miller". Does anyone happen to know the origins of the name of Markovitch or possibly Markowicz? My mother's maiden name is Markovitch but apparently my great grandparents' last name was Markowicz according to their tombstones. I've been able to find very little information on this name. Thanks for the help. Melissa McCarty Allentown, PA
