BURN / BURNS are English in origin and have a number of origins. 1. One who lived by a brook. 2. From Bjorn, Scandinavian for Bear, a common name to this day in Scandinavian countries. 3. Warrior, hero, nobleman and later just plain Man. If there is a Scottish origin, I'm not aware of it, despite Robert Burns, the poet. There may be a site or an encyclopedia which explains his surname but I haven't checked there. Google might have something on him. Good luck in your pursuit. I have just started researching my Byrnes line and have wondered about a possible Scottish connection. Tom __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
