In the book: "Roster of South Carolina Patriots in the American Revolution" by Bobby Gilmer Moss, we find this entry: 1776 = BENJAMIN SURGINER, 2nd Regt. (Source: N.A.246; N.A.853). Going through my file last night while updating the webpages, I found a note someone had sent me in 1994 that gave this same source. It said: "Sojourner, Jacob (son of Wm) enl. on 30 Oct 1775 in the Vol. Co. of Colleton Co. Regt." Can anyone confirm that entry? Admittedly when I was searching this name in the 1980's-early 1990's, I was not looking for the Sojourner name and could very well have missed this entry in the book. Yet no one else has contributed this entry to the Surgener/Sojourner list either. Is it in this book? Does it actually say "son of Wm"? I searched the net with google.com but nothing returns with the Sojourner name; most returns were webpage entries for specific names or bookstores that carry this book - plus the entry on the Surgener webpages for Benjamin's entry. Thanks, Ruby
I would like to see any response posted to the list on this. A Jacob Sojourner shows up in MS which I feel is a relative of my lines, but I have yet to place him within the lines. This could be something of value to me, and other Sojourner researchers. thanks!
