I am looking for the parents of Mary, wife of Joseph Cox. Some believe her maiden name was Surginer, while others think it was Pope. No one that I have contacted has been able to furnish proof one way or the other. Mary was born circa 1771 in Virginia. She married Joseph Cox about 1790 in either Virginia or Ashe Co., North Carolina. She died 14 Oct. 1846 in Bartholomew Co., Indiana.
