The in charge remark was only meant as a greeting so please don't take it so seriously Ruby. I've looked for the email about the second Abraham Surgener but can't find it right now. I know I printed it out because it seemed to be important. Since I haven't been able to find a 1850 census for him maybe he didn't exist. I believe the other Abraham Surgener was married to a Celia/Selia. And now that I have my memory working he might have lived in Knox Co.KY. I have a copy of the 1850 census for Abraham Surgener married to Nancy with six children. Is that the one your talking about Tina? This one was Whitley Co. KY. I appreciate everyone's help, I've been stuck on this for a long time. Joyce
Probably so, Joyce. The records I quoted from are only the indices and give only the name of the head of the household and the place where he was enumerated, plus the page number where you can find him. Was your Sarah listed in census records as having been born in KY? Do they all agree on that point? Do you have a copy of the actual marriage records? Do they list her as single or was a Surgener of any spelling the bondsman or witness or ??? Was she listed with a different surname? Is it possible that Surgener was a 1st marriage and then she married again? I'm trying to think of all the possibilities. Being 33, this could have been a 2nd marriage for her. I would check Whitley county for a male Surgener buried between 1854 and 1855 when she married. See if maybe she was a widow. Tina
