Good morning! Have been to Rowan Co. and Surry Co., North Carolina; Lee Co., Virginia; Knoxville, TN's historical collection (surprisingly not much but did have a number of publications for Hawkins Co., Tennessee, which I was pleased to see because I didn't have time to get to that county). Surgeners are still as mysterious after having been there in person! Did find a couple new items (to me) that I will get posted as soon as I get myself reorganized and back in sync. In the meantime, GOOD NEWS!! Notified by YAHOO (http://www.yahoo.com) that they've picked up our SURGENER webpage and added it to their search engine. Now if anybody is ever looking for the Surgener/Sojourner name (what are the odds of that?) and think to try searching under a different spelling, we'll get found!!! Currently we are also listed on the YAHOO "What's New" - at the YAHOO "search" blank, type in "Surgener" and you will see this entry: Arts: Humanities: History: Genealogy: Lineages and Surnames Surgener - U.S. and British Isles resources for the surname including the alternate spelling, Sojourner.
