Martha Jane SURGINER born May 1829 in North Carolina ( 1900 Census)and died after 1900. (was living in 1900 Census) Martha Jane was married to Samuel Ferdinand STONE. All family records that I have are from the Richmond County, NC area. Death certificate of daughter, Elizabeth, lists her parents as Ferd STONE and Martha Jane SURGINER, both born in NC. I believe Martha Jane's parents to be John and Jane SURGINER, but have no real proof of this. Just going by supposition from census information. I do know that at one time there was a cemetery in Rockingham, North Carolina that was at one called the SURGINER Cemetery and had an Uncle that remembered visiting the site and there being a large SURGINERMarker in the middle. Today that cemetery is a wooded, overgrown lot in a residential area of Rockingham. I have visited the site and found evidence of sunken graves and the grave of one descendant marked by a funeral home marker. This person was buried in 1974. I have plans to visit another cemetery in the area that has at least one SURGINER buried there - Jno. SURGINOR, age 98 at death - no other information available on the death certificate. If I am correct about Martha Jane's parentage, then she had at least two siblings; Celia, born about 1831 and John, born about 1837.
