Interested in all SURGENOR's from the Portglenone Area of County Antrim,Northern Ireland. Darryl Ontario Canada.
I have one, Sarah A. Surgener b. 1832 KY m. William C. Watkins 1855 Whitley Co. KY. d. Nov. 1889 Phoenix, Maricopa Co. AZ. Sarah may be the dau. of Abraham Surgener of Whitley Co. KY. He listed a dau. that was the right age in the 1850 census as Susan. So I'm looking for something more that might connect my Sarah to this family. Also there was another Abraham Surgener in KY at the same time and she may be connected to that family. I could use some help with this as I've been stuck for a long time. Sarah and William C. Watkins had eight children... James Buchanan b. KY 1856 David Franklin b. MO. 1858 William Douglas b. IA. 1860 John Abraham b. IN. 1866 Marion Alexander b. KS 1868 Ezra Monroe b. KS 1870 Letitia Jane b. OK In.Terr. 1972 Laura Ellen b. TX 1974 If there is anyone that can help me with this family I would appreciate it. Joyce

If not, any idea about when/where she was married? Something to help us look for her. Anybody interested in the Jacobs ... I was looking at a copy made from the accounts book of Elijah Pope housed at the Indiana State Historical Archives and came across a new entry for Jacob: "Jacob Surginner ____ of to the March 8, 1779" So we have a Jacob in 1750 Edgecombe Co., NC, a son of William/Mary (the Baptist Minister) A Jacob 1761-62 Halifax Co., NC This new entry for a Jacob in 1779 Then a Jacob in 1790 Montgomery Co., VA (part that became Grayson Co.) Same Jacob? Different? Also in Elijah Pope's accounts book is an entry where he paid JOHN SURGINNER but it is not dated. Only one of the names in this section of accounts shows up in Montgomery (Grayson) Co., VA, so I don't know when/where Elijah Pope was at the time, although one entry does refer to "rent money of Virginia." Elijah Pope was b.4 Jan 1763 Edgecombe Co., NC - his mother was Olive Surgener, d/o Robert and Catherine Surgener. Ruby

Hello, Some new items added to the SURGENER webpages http://home.rmci.net/adamewa/index.htm Debbie has contributed 1850-60-70 censuses for Abraham Surgener in Kentucky. Also check out her chart added to the Family Group Charts section. Thank, Debbie! I have added 1790 Montgomery Co., VA, tax list to the 1790 VA census index and added a bit more to the "Chronological" page at the end of page 3 = 1780's-1800. Also discovered a SURGENER message board at FTM's site: http://genforum.genealogy.com/surgener/ as well as a message board on Ancestry's site. Sojourner boards also exist separately at these two sites. I hope you'll take a look at the new info and if you make any connections, please let us know. Ruby
I am Working on the Abramhan Surgener line out of Grayson, Va who received a land grant in Whitley Co., KY in 1850. Debbie

Cleaning out old files and notebooks this week, I came across an entry I copied from the sign-in log at the library in Ashe Co., NC, a few years ago. Sary ROSE m. ?? SERGENER She died age 71 in 1855 Smythe Co., VA Dau of Emanuel Rose died by May 1796 and Mary ?? (who m2. Mr. Hall). On the SURGENER webpage of census http://home.rmci.net/adamewa/census.htm there is: 1840 Smythe Co. = SUGENER, William, p:406. Could this be the same? Ruby
