It is my intention over the next couple of weeks, since the weather is starting to cool down a bit, that I'm going to be doing some searching of some of Knox County, TN's oldest graveyards. I'll be looking for SUMPTER/SUMTER's in these locations. Since the SUMPTER/SUMTER family is one of the First Families of Tennessee, having lived here before Tennessee gained statehood, I do believe this will not be a difficult task. One must keep in mind that I will not be able to accomplish this without the assistance of you all. If you know your ancestor is buried in Knox County, TN and you know which graveyard this ancestor is buried in, I'll be more than happy to go to the location and take a picture of the site, and will also look up in the Knoxville News-Sentinel morgue as well any other old newspaper source I can locate, and see if I can find an obit on this person as well. I'm not a miracle worker, but I am trying to keep my mind off of the cancer that is in my body at the present time, and would appreciate being kept busy (although not too busy, as I do have family obligations).
