I think the Sumpter Family on my family.com would be GREAT!! If we did not do that, we could look into buying a website for the Sumpter family info. For instance, www.sumpter.org is available, only problem is that it is $200 to register the name and then about $10-$20 a month to keep it up and running. I think the big thing now a days is a family association. I guess a lot of familes are going to this now, it is a non-profit association and any money that is given to it is money that you can write off on your taxes...TRUST ME I don't make enough to have to worry about writing it off, but it is a good idea to some. I think the main advantage to having a sumpter family association is that with the association we can ensure that we will have something to pass on to the future generations. What I mean is that let say, god for bid, that my kid is not intersted in genealogy, what would they do with the family history stuff that I have--odds are it could end up in a garage sale (and I would be turning in my grave) but, with a family association people could send their stuff to the family association. Here is a good site to look at: http://members.tripod.com/~dwiseman/index.html it is the Wiseman family association page and it is cool because they have a guestbook and people who are researching that name can go there and read the guestbook and see if they recognize any of the names that people are researching. OK OK, I have blabbered enough!! Dd, the site at my family.com sounds like the most economical, unless we want to go all out and do the association.
