Three or four days ago there was an email giving the 18 June 1828 marriage date for William Sumpter and Elizabeth Iveson in Hanover Co, Va. I have never seen an original source for this record but I believe the date has been sealed into the Mormon records at Salt Lake City by Dr. Davison of Texas. Dr. Davison did considerable research about the Sumpter family and his findings are still very helpful to researchers. However, Dr. Davison believed that the above William Sumpter was a son of Nicklas and Katherine Mathews Sumpter of Histon, England. Later records have disproved this last fact since the William Sumpter, son of Nicklas, died in Histon and his death is recorded there. I also would very much like to know the origin of the marriage date for William and Elizabeth Iveson Sumpter - does anyone on the web also have this record but not from the Mormon records?
