To All List Members, I have configured all subject surname lists which I moderate to post all messages to a webpage archive file. These archived messages will be available to the internet public who has a web browser. Therefore, if your ISP goes down because of electrical outages or other reasons and the RootsWeb computer automatically removes your address from the list, you will be able to review all posted messages while your system was down. You can also view message from other discussion groups which are on the webpage. The URL for viewing archived messages is as follows: http://lists.rootsweb.com/~archiver/lists/ Procedures for finding archives messages are detailed below: 1. Click on the surname or other discussion group of your choice; 2. Click on "1997"; 3. Click on the month which is "November" for the time being; 4. Click on "maillist.html" to view all messages by Subject and submitter; and, 5. Click on the message you wish to view. You will be able to click on the submitter to send a follow-up message to their post. After having a opportunity to view the archived messages, it becomes evident why using meaningful subject lines on messages becomes a necessity. Sometime in the future, previous messages posted to the discussion groups will be added to the archive webpage.
