Here is some of the information I have verified. I have copies of the following marriages of the John JONES/Sarah SUMPTER children: Elizabeth JONES m. Henry JACKSON 23 Jan, 1817 Clinton Co. OH Frankey JONES m. Samuel POFF 1 may 1817 Clinton Co. OH Sarah JONES m. Jacob BARRETT 5 Aug. 1818 Clinton Co. OH Lucy JONES m. Henry POFF 12 April 1821 Clinton Co. OH Abigail JONES m. Mathew POFF 11 May 1823 Clinton Co OH Sinthea JONES m. Charles SIMMONS 17 Nov. 1825 Randolph Co. OH Alice JONES m. Amos SUTTON 13 Mar 1828 Champaign Co. OH Anna JONES m. James Stapleton LEWIS 10 May 1833 Jackson Co. MO I also have a copy of the 1847 John JONES will in which he mentions his wife Sally and his eight daughters by their married names plus two children of his son Solomon (evidently deceased). Their names were Julian Jones REDPATH (I have her marriage record) and Jacob JONES. George and John were not mentioned. In a letter written by James Stapleton LEWIS to his brother Joel in 1855 he writes "My wife is sick at present...she is very low...she wishes to know how long her father has been dead. And she wishes to know whether her step-mother is still living." What I want to find out is whatever happened to Sarah SUMPTER the first wife of John JONES. Marion
