Thomas married Elizabeth Coffey (daughter of Reuben) in Burke Co, NC. They had the following children: John, Jordan, Mary (Polly), Elizabeth, Catherine, Elinor and Thomas E. The family moved to Wayne Co, KY, abt 1819. Harold Sumpter of Turney, MO., Dr. Ward Sumpter of KY, are the primary sources for the above data. Thomas B. Sumpter born 15 Dec 1761 Albemarle Co,VA, was the son of Capt. William and Judith Randall Sumpter. This Thomas served as a private in the North Carolina Line during the Revolution and his family is well documented in his pension application. Children: Jean (Jenny), John, James, Robert, William, Betsy Ann, Susannah, Lydia, Mary, Edward, Elvira and Sally. Thomas died 15 Jan 1845 in Knox Co,TN. Another Thomas Sumpter was born about this same time in Virginia. He was the son of Edmund and Anne ? Sumpter. He married May Todd 15 Aug 1801 in Charlotte Co, VA.
