I am searching for information and/or descendants of Ann (Sumpter?) Canady. Marshall and Ann Canady are listed in 1850 Virginia Census with two children: John H. Sumpter age 5 and Mary A. Sumpter age 3. It is possible that Ann is the widow of a Sumpter man and has recently married Marshall Canady. The family is in Patrick Co,VA, and all list Virginia as a birthplace. Is the family still in Patrick Co, VA, in the 1860 and 1870 census listings? Who is the Sumpter father of these children? Thanks for any and all information. Jane Sumpter Malone-George
