Hello, don't mean to be a but-in-sky---but have not seen much action on this Sumpter mailing list. I have a John Elias SUMPTER married to an annie pearl CRISS and also a doan DENNIS (first wife who drowned in overturned wagon in MO river) His father was: unknown. We do know that this g g grandfather was born in Carthage MO in 1865. He died and buried in Okla.1941 There is a legend that the mother to John Elias SUMPTERwas a BUCKHARDUS.
