    3. This is what I found on John David Sumpter Jr. (1853 - 1936), my great-great-great grandfather. He was married to Phoebe Ellen (Melvina) Bland (1858 - 1941). The paper says he was buried in Pine Groves Cemetary, but he and his wife are actually buried in Cain-Ford Cemetary in Putnam county, Missouri. Centerville Daily Iowegian & Citizen Friday, January 28, 1936 (Iowa) J.D. SUMPTER TAKEN BY DEATH AT ST. JOSEPH'S Aged Resident of Cincinnati Succumbs to Pnuemonia Attack and Age Complications. J. D. Sumpter, long time resident of Cincinnati, died at St. Joseph's hospital here at 7 a.m. today following an attack of pnuemonia and complications superinduced by advanced age. Mr. Sumpter who was retired and 84 years of age had been brought to the hospital here (?) Sunday and everything possible had been done in his behalf. He was well known and leaves a number of relatives and friends including sons Nova and Fred who also live in the Cincinnati vicinity, complete obituary together with the names of other relatives will follow later. Saturday, January 29, 1936 Sumpter Funeral Services Sunday Cincinnati- Funeral services for J. D. Sumpter who died Friday morning in St. Joseph Hospital will be held from the late home, Sunday forenoon at 10:30. Rev. J. D. Swan will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Grove cemetary, Mo. Michele Sumpter-White San Bernardino, CA 92407
