    3. My father was a Sumpter and was named Tecumseh Sumpter. He had several brothers and sisters. The sister was Nancy Sumpter Harjo b. Dec 10, 1922 (Tulsa area), Florence Sumpter (Fairfax area) John W. Sumpter b. May 20, 1924, Mamie Sumpter, Cleo and Leo Sumpter, and Alice Sumpter parents were John E. Sumpter and Amanda Lomer Grandparents Jacob Dozel Sumpter and Nancy Gibson On the 8th, day of June 1879, I obtained a marriage license from G.W. Wilson, County Judge of Pontatoo County Chickasaw Nation Indian Territory and on said day and date intermarried with Nancy Gibson, a Choctaw Indian by blood who has always been known and recognized as a full blood Choctaw Indian according to the laws and customs then prevailing in the Indian Territory. I paid five dollars to the County judge for said licence and was married by an Indian by the name of Chikaka or Coidaly which, I think means 'Wild Cat' in English, who was a duly ordained or licensed Minister of the Gospel. I am well and personally acquainted with Nancy Sumpter nee Nancy Gibson and she has always been known and recognized as a full blood Choctaw indian and has always particpated and shared in the funds and annuities of the Choctaw Indians whenever there was a distribution of Indian funds. I have lived near Paoli Indian Territory for a number of years and have owned and held lands and improvements ever since the aforesaid marriage with Nancy Gibson by and with the consent and approval of the Indian Government, and was on the 14th day of December 1886, recognized by the authorities of the Santa Fe Railway Company as the legal owner and holder of the aforesaid lands and improvements and in token of said recognition by said Santa Fe Railway I have attached to my application for citizenship in the Choctaw Nation a copy of the award and findings of the Commissioners of said Railway Company signed by the chairman of said commission, showing that I received Sixty dollars from said Railway Co. for the Right of way or privilege of said Railway passing over my said lands. That there have been born to me and my said wife Nancy Sumpter, Johnie, age 14 years; Amanda age 7 years; Jimmie age 5 years; and Scott Sumpter 3 years; who are all now living with us near Paoli Ind. Territory. I have a number of witnesses to the above facts who absolutely refuse to testify in my case and I have no way to compell them to testify. Subscribed and sworn to by Jacob D.
