    3. Folks, Every week or so (or whenever the digest gets to about 20 KB), I'm forwarding to the List those posts that have been "gatewayed" from RootsWeb's SUFFOLK Board that might contain information of interest to List subscribers, and here's the current "digest" of such gatewayed posts. If you wish to respond to any of these gatewayed posts, please do so by clicking on the relevant "Message Board URL:" link and NOT by responding either to the list OR to my address as the digest poster. Board posters will not see your List response unless they are also subscribed to the List, and most are not. PLEASE also be careful about responding to any post and inadvertently re-posting the ENTIRE digest to the list! More information on RootsWeb's Boards can be found in the FAQs at: http://www.RootsWeb.ancestry.com/ , where you will also find a link to the Boards' "home page". If you have any questions about the Boards or what the following is, pls contact me off-list at: mailto:[email protected] . Thanks, Peter SUFFOLK List Admin. -------------------------------------------------- Re: James Sale & Caroline Pryke of Barrow Suffolk This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: heather532012 Surnames: Mudd Elliston Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.england.sfk.general/8229.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I have just read your post and think that it might be the answer to a problem that I have been trying to solve although I have no proof. Refering back to the 1861 census I have followed Mary Ann Mudd to this point and then I lost her. I have been through the census for all her siblings and children she is not with any of them and she does not seem to have died. I tried marrying her off to various people but they never seemed quite right. The Death that you found in Sudbury fits perfectly for my Mary Ann as she was born in 1806 and would have been 84 when she died. This means that Mary Ann Mudd could have remarried and become Mary Ann Elliston. Mary Ann Mudd was born in Badley Suffolk in 1806. From the 1881 census Mary Ann Elliston the wife of Henry was born in Badley. I think that Badley has been written as Bradley in the 1871 census. Henry Elliston and Mary Ann Mudd are in the same household in the 1861 census and I guess they later got married. The problem is I can't find a marriage for them, maybe they lied about their ages and never really got married either! The whole of her family seem a bit strange as two of Mary Ann's brothers each marry one of her daughters (uncles marrying nieces must be illegal, I think) and Edwin, (her son in the 1861 census) appears married in the 1871 census but didn't actually marry until 2 years later. I will probably get Mary Ann's Death certificate to see if it is any help. As it is 4 years ago that you posted the query I would be interested to know if you got any further. Maybe you have already found a solution. -------------------------------------------------- Re: Ambrose Farrow - Great Thurlow This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. I am trying to find information regarding my 4 x great grandmother Rachel FORD b:1833. Background: Rachel gave birth to my 3 x great grandfather John Herbert Ford. There is no father listed on the birth certificate. Rachel is daughter to James and Elizabeth Ford (James was a shoemaker in Southelmham). The problem I am having is that Rachel disappears completely in the 1871 and 1881 census. John was born in 1865. I'm also having problems trying to find a death record for Rachel. Rachel re-appears in the 1891 census as a housekeeper for her nephew George in Bungay. My research has been further complicated by the fact that Rachel's elder brother James also gave birth to a daughter Rachel 5 years before hand in 1828! So it's been very easy confusing the two! Any help anyone can provide would be gratefully received. -------------------------------------------------- Elizabeth Gardiner - Monks Eleigh or Chelsworth This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Others on Ancestry have trees with Elizabeth Gardiner born in Chelsworth in 1810 and baptised in 1811 being the daughter of Robert Gardiner and Susannah Coates. The Elizabeth Gardiner I'm interested in married Robert Hazell in 1833 also in Monk's Eleigh. In all the censuses from 1851 on she gave her birth place as Monk's Eleigh. Is it possible that these two Elizabeths are different people? Does anyone have access to the baptism registers for both parishes to see if there is an Elizabeth Gardiner in each for 1805 to 1815? I'd be delighted if they prove to be the same woman but I'm beginning to have my doubts and I'm not sure why. -------------------------------------------------- Re: Ambrose Farrow - Great Thurlow This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Hope that your PC is better now??? I have a fairly long list of Farrow's et all from various people which I am slowly going through and entering into my tree after confirming the info either myself or through my Dad and Uncle whose mother (my paternal grandmother) was Frances Mary Farrow 1897 - 1994. So depending on how much research you have done and what you have got ... is dependant on how I can help you or not? Hear from you soon. My cousin will take some pics of the areas and I will put them up on my family tree, and make them public for you to access, or if you email me I can send them directly! to your email, [email protected] Im fairly certain that we are connected through the family line of Smith, but as of yet I have to find Nellies parents whom I think could be my GGG grandmothers brother. It is rather sad that I did not contact her before she died. She left me a prayer book which my adopted mother gave me before I left to come to Australia. I thought I was doing the right thing by not chasing up my birth mother. Of course things have changed now and it is considered the thing to do. My adopted family have mostly died and I have been feeling lonely. Family means a lot to me and I guess I was not expecting to find anyone connected to me. Soooo many Smiths.
