The only suggestion that I can think of quickly is to try looking on Cyndi's List at http://www.CyndisList.com/uk/eng and then specify "Durham" in all the right places:- "county" / "Libraries & Archives" / "Mailing Lists & Newsgroups" / "Obituaries" / Message Boards" / etc. / etc. ! You could also try the 1901 and 1911 Censuses and try to look for any clusters of TOWLERs - but this would probably be very difficult ?? I hope that this helps ! Good Hunting !
