    3. Folks, Every week or so (or whenever the digest gets to about 20 KB), I'm forwarding to the List those posts that have been "gatewayed" from RootsWeb's SUFFOLK Board that might contain information of interest to List subscribers, and here's the current "digest" of such gatewayed posts. If you wish to respond to any of these gatewayed posts, please do so by clicking on the relevant "Message Board URL:" link and NOT by responding either to the list OR to my address as the digest poster. Board posters will not see your List response unless they are also subscribed to the List, and most are not. PLEASE also be careful about responding to any post and inadvertently re-posting the ENTIRE digest to the list! More information on RootsWeb's Boards can be found in the FAQs at: http://www.RootsWeb.ancestry.com/ , where you will also find a link to the Boards' "home page". If you have any questions about the Boards or what the following is, pls contact me off-list at: mailto:[email protected] . My Ancestor John Bentley b.1828 was one of 6 children born to James born around 1799/1801 and Elizabeth (nee Turner) born around the same time. The other children were Mary b.1827 (she was blind and never married to my knowledge) Emily born c.1831, Susan born circa 1833, George b. 1835 and Jemima b. 1838. I have had success tracking George and Jemima and their decendants, but Susan seems to have vanished from any census from about 18 years of age and my info on Emily is patchy too. Anything you might be able to find out about John and Elizabeth prior to 1837 would be marvelous - thanks in advance! I think your John Earl is a different branch of the same family. I haven't done any research in a few years either, but I seem to remember that he and Emily Ruggles crop up all the time. I think you'll find someone who has information. -------------------------------------------------- Re: Willingham This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: jimuk69 Surnames: Hines King Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.england.sfk.general/8823/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am trying to trace some details of my great grandmother, Sarah Hines. The first record I have is of her marrying my great grandfather William King in January 1865. On the banns record it states that her father was Edward Hines. On later census records 1871 to 1911 it states she was born in Mellis in Suffolk. However the 1851 and 1861 census records for Edward Hines in Mellis, despite him having 12 children, do not record him having a daughter named Sarah. I have ruled out his female children born around the same date, just in case she preferred to use a middle name. I have just applied to see if I can get her birth certificate. If anyone has any ideas I would be happy to hear them. 'Tiger' used to box in Fairgrounds etc. taking on all comers. If he was beaten his opponent was rewarded with a money prize. Family legend has it that he rarely lost. I have seeking him for years as he belongs on my husband's tree but sofar no luck. -------------------------------------------------- Re: Sarah Hines of Mellis Suffolk This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Salome married a James Pavely in 1866, a year later than Sarah married, and had a large family herself, which ruled that out. I think that if the other children of Edward and mary were baptised, then Sarah would have been baptised too. By the way, the 99 on the 1861 census is the enumerators reference, the number of properties he had enumerated rather than a house number. It would simply have been known as Hines Cottage to local folk in the village.
