Thanks Pat, this is very interesting. My father emigrated to Australia after he was demobbed from the army - a little later than 1910, I know - but I didn't realise that there were actual advertisements for farm workers. I know that he spent some time in Western Australia but have no idea where. I have often wondered why he did it, leaving parents and a large family behind. I suppose it was for employment but his brothers seemed to find work at home. Incidentally, he returned home in 1928, stayed 8 weeks and returned to Oz. meeting my mother on board ship. She was coming out to be a children's nurse to a prominent family in Melbourne.
