Hi Linda, Your Elijah connects to the same tree that I am trying to prove my Ann does. Okay I checked the IGI for a baptism and found the following: Name: Elijah Clements Gender: Male Baptism/Christening Date: 27 Aug 1826 Baptism/Christening Place: DENNINGTON,SUFFOLK,ENGLAND Father's Name: Samuel Clements Mother's Name: Maria Indexing Project (Batch) Number: C13171-1 System Origin: England-ODM Source Film Number: 952985 I then went and looked at the baptism index for Hoxne Deanery by the SFHS and found: 27 Aug 1826 Elijah, son of Samuel & Maria, of Dennington, blacksmith at Dennington, St. Mary On the baptisms of the other 10 children it lists Maria as late Leggett. The IGI shows the following marriage: Groom's Name: Samuel Clements Bride's Name: Maria Leggett Marriage Date: 31 Mar 1823 Marriage Place: Stradbroke,Suffolk,England Bride's Previous Husband's Name: Indexing Project (Batch) Number: M13168-2 System Origin: England-ODM Source Film Number: 952980 Okay, now this is where it gets confusing. I found the following baptism on the IGI: Name: Samuel Branch Gender: Male Baptism/Christening Date: 10 Dec 1801 Baptism/Christening Place: Dennington, Suffolk, England Birth Date: 01 Dec 1801 Father's Name: Daniel Branch Mother's Name: Susan Clements Indexing Project (Batch) Number: C00081-1 System Origin: England-EASy Source Film Number: 993242 Reference Number: item 4 It seems that all of the children of Daniel Branch & Susan Clements went by their mother's maiden name. I found Samuel's brother Elijah Clements on the 1851 census b. 1798 in Dennington as well as Bradley Clemence b. 1800 in Dennington. I don't know what happened to his brother's Daniel or Ezekiel as I couldn't find them in the census. I did however find a Daniel Clements b. 1795 in Brundish in the 1851 census which could very well be his brother Daniel. Only 4 years difference in age and Brundish is next door to Dennington. His sister Susannah b. 1795, I can't find what happened to her either. According to this website: http://www.freewebs.com/lisaparkin/clementsfamily.htm, because Samuel's parents' marriage was bigamous he had to be known by his mothers maiden name and not his Fathers. You might have to investigate that a bit more. So all up Daniel Branch & Susanna Clements had the following children: Daniel b. 1791 Susannh b. 1795 Ezekiel b. 1797 Elijah b. 1798 Bradley b. 1799 Samuel b. 1801 Susanna Clements b. 1765 in Dennington, was the daugther of William Clements b. 1728 in Debenham and Susanna Bradley.
