    2. P.S. & C.A. Wyant
    3. Folks, Every week or so (or whenever the digest gets to about 20 KB), I'm forwarding to the List those posts that have been "gatewayed" from RootsWeb's SUFFOLK Board that might contain information of interest to List subscribers, and here's the current "digest" of such gatewayed posts. If you wish to respond to any of these gatewayed posts, please do so by clicking on the relevant "Message Board URL:" link and NOT by responding either to the list OR to my address as the digest poster. Board posters will not see your List response unless they are also subscribed to the List, and most are not. PLEASE also be careful about responding to any post and inadvertently re-posting the ENTIRE digest to the list! More information on RootsWeb's Boards can be found in the FAQs at: http://www.RootsWeb.ancestry.com/ , where you will also find a link to the Boards' "home page". If you have any questions about the Boards or what the following is, pls contact me off-list at: mailto:[email protected] . She was a market gardeners assistant. I was born Novenber 22nd 1944. I was later adopted by Charles and Monica Hammerton. I have never tried to contact my birth family as it seemed to hard to find them and I do not live in England anymore. -------------------------------------------------- Re: Smith This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: robesur Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.england.sfk.general/349.454.459.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I lived in Lavenham for several years until 2000. There was a Nelly Smith age about 90 in 2000, single woman alive and well in the village at that time. I think that Nelly or Nellie was her real name and not a pet name for Ellen or similar. She is possibly deceased by now, the death would probably be registered in either the Sudbury or Bury St Edmunds district, depending where exactly she died. Looking through deaths 2000 to 2005, the latest year available I can see a couple of Nelly(ie) Smith deaths in BSE with a DoB c1910 so either could be this one. I have no idea whether the one that I remember could be your mother, or even if she is still alive, but I remember her as very fit and active for her age. -------------------------------------------------- Re: Smith This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. My dad was Ronald Meador and according to what I've found on ancestry.com we are descendants of Edmun De Wytnesham. The trail stops cold with him. I haven't found any information other than his name and year of birth. I'd appreciate anything you wish to share. It's so difficult filling in the gaps between the census years. There were quite a long line of Blackburn upholsterers in that part of the country, so if it's not him they may be a relative. Thanks again for all your help, I'll let you know how I get on. Louise. --------------------------------------------------
