I had several friends that went into nursing training , you started as a probationer nurse ( skivvy) and worked up , there was quite the hierarchy . It may be that a young person who was a nanny, then a hospital ward maid and then when old enough began nurse training was following a well known progression through the professions. It may be of course that there was no particular official training sequence but if anyone knows about such things in this era, it would be helpful.
