Re the comment regarding a Driver in the RHA.... He would have been an enlisted soldier at that time. The Drivers Corps, which was created towards the end of the 18th C, became part of the RHA shortly after Waterloo. Prior to the Drivers Corps they were indeed civilian drivers. Drivers were (and still are) skilled horsemen who “drove” the teams of horses pulling gun carriages.
