Hi Listers. Am researching FRENCH in Suffolk, have got back to Thomas m 15.10.1733 in Poslingford Suffolk to Alice RYLAND. Thomas died 1783 in (Ketton) Kedington. I believe that there is a link to Stoke by Clare, but cannot prove this. I know there are FRENCH's in Stoke, one Thomas m Ann and lived in Kedington in 1861. Are there any listers researching FRENCH in this area? I would appreciate any help in breaking my Brick Wall. Regards Patrick

Were your French family millers? The name appears in Melford in the early 18th century with a family of probably prosperous millers ... no Thomas or Alice of course. Re French Families in Haverhill and Stoke by Clare Good Morning PatrickI have a Thomas French a labourer marrying Ann Andrews in Haverhill on 17-1-1819 and they had 13 children between 26-12-1819 and 23-5-1841., I can supply names and dtes of birth of the children all born in Haverhill if needed. Also there is another French family in Stoke by Clare aother Thomas a labourer and wife Ann who had 9 children between 4-1-1846 and 12-2-1865 and I can supply names and dates of birth for the children who were all born in Stoke by Clare if needed. In addition, there is a French family listed on Page 19 of Brent Bowyer's sequel published in 2013 to his first book published in 1995 entitled "500 Years of the Stradishall Bowyers" covering that family from 1854 to 1993. Also, there are 7 marriages by French males in those areas during 1813 and 1837. My interest is the Bowyers of Cotton Hall Kedington and I was a member of the "Bowyer" team that collated the sequel.. Hi Patrick Not sure if this is of interest, but I stumbled on Frederick and Harriet French in the 1851 St Clement, Ipswich, Suffolk Census. They were visiting some of my Smiths. Frederick born 1822 and Harriet 1824 both from Suffolk. Just a thought. Good luck.
