I have found a bronze campaign medal with my grandfather's name around the edge - HARRY PALMER SANGSTER It states 'For War Service Mercantile Marine, 1914 1918'. and was for Campaign Service. I have found a write up about the medal and it states it was awarded to members of the Merchant Navy for one or more voyages through a war or danger zone during the course of WW1. How can I find out where he went and what he did and what ship(s) he was on. All the records I can find are for army personnel. I have also found his British War Medal - which men were given these ? and would it have been connected to his service at sea. Any help re where I can find his details appreciated. I was always led to believe that he was living in Horley in Surrey all through WW1. Shirley
