Hi Nivard Thanks for that but that is what I have can't seem to get back to his father! You may recall a few months back that at 83 I found my wife's father and am now trying to put the tree together and just to let you know we are coming back to England in Sept for a reunion with her brother and sister she did not know she had Ivan Spain
Hi Ivan Good to hear of your success Now on the Edmund parentage The Baptism that Brian pointed out as follows EDMUND STIFF Birth: 27 SEP 1801 Christening: 05 OCT 1801 Bradfield Saint George, Suffolk, England Father: HENRY STIFF Mother: HANNAH NICE C061921 1733 - 1875 0952208 Film 6900949 Film Is the Edmund you seek, given all evidence seen so far , as you can see it names his parents in full, which is a bonus Is there a reason you think this is not your man? Apart from the evidence seen so far suggesting it is your man, it would appear to be the only option The second marriage Marriages Mar 1846 Punchard Susan Stow 12 527 Stiff Edmund Stow 12 527 Should also give his fathers name Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) > Hi Nivard Thanks for that but that is what I have can't seem to get > back to his father! > You may recall a few months back that at 83 I found my wife's father and > am > now trying to put the tree together and just to let you know we are coming > back to England in Sept for a reunion with her brother and sister she did > not know she had > > Ivan Spain
Hi again Ivan Well perhaps I need a STIFF drink <vbg> I was going to say early on that I have a reputed STIFFE connection myself but not having researched it myself I do not accept it until I have so did not mention it A cousin of mine has researched it through so I can't vouch for it myself until I get around to this line, I believe my cousin took someone elses research for the earlier period but visited Suffolk records office for the 1792 back to 1700 period What I can say with as much certainty as I can on any line is that my g.g.g.grandmother was Sarah BLOIS b1792 Norton Suffolk (she married Robert WELLS in 1814 Norton) and are in Horringer for many years and are buried there Sarahs parents were Stephen and Sarah BLOYCE Read STIFF for STIFFE and vice versa Variations of BLOIS = BLOYCE , BLOISE etc etc =========================================== Before 1792 I have not personally checked but is as follows Sarah BLOIS b1792 parents are said to be Stephen BLOIS b1756 & Sarah CAUDELL b1765 (married 1781 Mildenhall) Stephen BLOIS b1756 his parents are Stephen BLOIS b1734 & Sarah STIFFE b1743 Rattlesdon (married 1755 Drinkstone) Sarah STIFFE b1743 parents are Daniel STIFFE b1705 & Mary HINED b1725 Daniel STIFFE b1705 Drinkstones parents are John STIFF b1672 & Sarah KING b1670 John b1672 parents were John STIFF b1635 & Elizabeth BUTALL b1635 John STIFF b1635 parents are John STIFFE b1602 & Elizabeth BUTALL b1602 John STIFFE b1602 parents are John STIFFE b1573 & Katherina or Kateryne Barton DEICKES b1577 Robert STIFF b1535 & Martha b1540 ========================= Now I have certain issues with the above Sarah BLOIS b1792 is the oldest known child , so why when they married in 1781? (possible but raises doubts in my mind) If this is the correct marriage and Sarah CAUDELLs age is correct it would make her 16 on marriage , certainly not impossible but a question all the same If Sarah STIFFs age is correct it would make her 12 when she married in 1755 and gave birth to her first that year , that I do have to question It does not take a degree in quantum physics to see that there are apparently two John STIFFs who mary the same named Elizabeth BUTALL (coincidence? I think not) But if all pans out, Sarah STIFF b1743 Rattlesdon has a brother Henry STIFF So take this at present with a large pinch of salt but perhaps food for thought You will find over 30 trees on Ancestry with the STIFF line , I would advise some caution but they may give you some clues Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) > Hi Nivard Thanks for that but that is what I have can't seem to get > back to his father! > You may recall a few months back that at 83 I found my wife's father and > am > now trying to put the tree together and just to let you know we are coming > back to England in Sept for a reunion with her brother and sister she did > not know she had > > Ivan Spain
