Eddie Unfortunately you are a week too late as last week, in recognition of Armistice Day, there was free access to the World War 1 records on Ancestry! You can of course examine the indexes at Ancestry without subscription (look in the Military section for British Army WW1 Service Records 1914-1920 and British Army WW1 Pension Records 1914-1920) to see if your relative is listed. If so perhaps somebody could do a lookup for you, if you give them the name of the person concerned. I believe that the work is now complete on scanning the records that survived. I have seen one or two with charred edges! Brian
