There should be some photographs of A G Potter on the web site too :-) http://framlinghamarchive.org.uk Chapter five of 'Early Country Motoring, Cars and Motorcycles in Suffolk 1896-1940' by John F Bridges tells the story of Arthur George Potter. He was the son of a Needham Market blacksmith and set up a business in Framlingham as a basket maker. He married Rose Pendle of Rendham. He went on to acquire the sole agency for Swift Cycles. AG Potter of Framlingham I think came from Needham Market and had previously been a basket weaver. There were a family called Potter in Needham Market with connections there going back to the 16th century and probably earlier. In Needham market (which at that date was part of Barking parish) had a strong tradition of non-conformists. I know that I corresponded with both Carol and Pat about this in December 2005 & January 2006, during which I mentioned that there is a photo extant of Potter the basket weaver. I would also suggest checking the non-conformist records for Needham Market. Good morning Pat Thank you for all your help and interesting information. I must try again to find the link between my Potter's and AG Potter. If it exsists. My elderly mother, now in her late ninties, says that in the thirties and early forties both families were in contact. Certainly both families appear to have come from a working background. I have received details of the following site from Mr. Charles Fuller www.bmdregisters.co.uk/index.php this is the site I found the other day and later today I will register with them to continue my search.
