    1. [SFK-UK] Thomas BRETT - Halesworth

    3. I wonder if someone with access to Halesworth PRs could have a look for the christening of a Thomas Brett around 1802? He is the husband of my GGGG aunt Alitha Algar of North Cove. They married in 1820 at Barnby, at which time he was decribed as "of Southwold" He's a bit of a puzzle. The 1851 census has him in Lakenheath, but the age appears to be 69, suggesting a birth around 1782, and much older than his wife. This conflicts with the 1841 census, where he is younger than his wife, who seems to be mis-named Charlotte in 1851! However her place of birth and age is correct for Alitha, and 3 of their children are with them in both 1841 and 1851. I also have a death certificate (1854) which I think must be him which places his birth firmly in the 1801-2 timeframe. Alitha outlived him. I am also trying to track down his son John, who in 1851 is married to a Harriet with 3 children (living with Thomas & "Charlotte"/Alitha). After that he disappears completely until 1871 when he apparently pops up in Stepney married to an Ellen with (c1826 -?1903?) a different set of children. We are fairly sure this is the same chap, as his death record (1903) refers to him as John Algar Brett. Any help most gratefully received Brian
