    3. Hi Everyone Wishing everyone a Great Christmas & a Happy New Year. I don't post here very often, but I never miss your postings, I have no direct links to Suffolk other than my mother lives near Hadleigh & my late father is in Ipswich forever. The one I would love to bring home would be my Grandfather's Granddad HENRY LAWS, Henry was born in Walworth SRY in 1800, by the time of his marriage in 1825 he was a Master Mariner, a trade in which he passed on to his sons, he himself continued in the foreign trade up to his death in 1880, he travelled the globe firstly in Brigs and later in Barques mostly in the sugar trade to Mauritius & St Kitts, and right up to his death sticking with sail well into the age of steam. Where his parents came from is uncertain and even after 40 years as a one-name researcher it is still uncertain, likewise his wife's parents origins are also uncertain I have seen records that would indicate she (MARY ANN LOTHERINGTON) had been born in Greenwich KENT (1861 census) but in the 1851 census gives her birthplace as Weeting Surrey, well as we all know Weeting is near Brandon on the Norfolk/Suffolk borders (that is unless you know different) there were certainly LAWS in the immediate area, but LOTHERINGTON is a North Yorkshire/County Durham name.
