May I add my two-pennyworth to this discussion? I have been endeavouring to find family from different parts of India / Asia for some time now and it seems impossible to locate *all* records that one would desire. I have been in touch with the British Library on this and was told /"that the latest baptism records held for Singapore are up to 1868 only, and there is no other United Kingdom archive that holds later records." /[I had wanted 1905]. / "They old an estimated 70% of birth/baptisms, marriages, and death/burials for British and European Christians in the sub-continent of India between 1698 and 1947, and these can be accessed via the indiafamily website."/ Their email then continued /"however, please be aware that the website contains transcriptions for only 300,000 ecclesiastical records out of the total of 2 million held in our collections, so don't be discouraged if your search is unsuccessful." / The family for whom I am doing this research is unwilling to pay for research and as I live in NZ cannot do it myself apart from trying both the indiafamily and the FIBIS websites, with obvious limited success. It would seems that the FIBIS website has continuing transcriptions coming on line and I found this of more use than the indiafamily site. The LDS website noted on the Suffolk forum gave me a snippet of information (a birth date for a wife, whose marriage certificate I already held) - but nothing on this site can be verified as a source is not noted - so be aware of this. It also mis-spelled the name of one of the persons - fortunately I knew of this family otherwise I may have missed it. I have though found information on other possible family members on the IGI section in the past - but again these cannot be verified. Hope this is of use to other researchers? Claire
