    1. [SFK-UK] Daniel Death Chelsea Pensioner and Non Conformist Records

    3. Hello Sheila The Suffolk Family History Society's burial index includes these two entries from the register of Bury St Edmunds Cemetery: 1868 June 26 aged 78 Daniel DEATH of 3 Alms Ho[use(s?)] Southgate St, pensioner 1868 Nov. 19 aged 73 Elizabeth DEATH of 7 Mowers C[our]t, Long Brackland, widow Could it be the same Daniel who was baptized at Great Welnetham (near Bury St Edmunds) on 14 Aug. 1791? His parents were William DEATH and Elizabeth SPELLS, according to the IGI and Record Search (http://pilot.familysearch.org). The latter has an additional entry which is noteworthy for the date of birth (22 June 1791) and the unfortunate mother's name ("Elizabeth Spells Death") although it gives the place as Sudbury (presumably the Archdeaconry rather than the town). I see no other candidates in the records of Nonconformists at http://www.bmdregisters.co.uk. Best of luck David Date: Sat, 4 Sep 2010 12:41:10 -0400 From: "Sheila Dowdell" <dowdell.s.toronto@sympatico.ca> ... I am still on the prowl for my elusive Daniel Death. A possible fit might just be Daniel Death b. 1787 Bury St, Edmunds shown on both the 1851 and 1861 Census records. He is also shown as being a Chelsea pensioner and a bricklayer. All my other Daniels are bricklayers so this might just be a good fit. I pulled what information I could from the British Army Records using Find My Past and found that this Daniel enlisted 6 Dec 1813 at Bow, Middlesex in the 4th Regiment of Foot. I also have copies of his discharge papers dated 8 Aug 1827 at the age of 41. During his time with the 4th Regiment of Foot he was stationed in East or West Indies. The records don't indicate which. He was discharged due to chronic rheumatism and worn out. Using Ancestry and whatever other sources are available, I have searched high and low for this man between his discharge in 1827 and his death sometime after the 1861 Census. In 1851 and 1861 he is married to Elizabeth, also born abt 1797 Bury St, Edmunds. My question is where would I find non conformist records? I would like to locate a marriage for this Daniel, and also a birth or christening for another Daniel Death b. abt. 1810 Bury St. Edmunds who is my direct ancestor.
