You can use the online version of the IGI to search for a single surname in a specific county. There is then the facility for downloading up to 50 names in GEDCOM format. These can be imported in batches into any Family History software program and depending on the software can be exported to Excel if that is you preferred method of research. I appreciate that this might not match up with your present way of recording but you should be able to manipulate the data in Excel to suit. This does save the chance of a transcription error as all you are doing is transferring a copy of the original data. There is also the question of your own particular computer skills but with a bit of trial and error with the first batch of 50, the rest should be easy. I am posting this as a help to others who may be thinking of using the IGI records for their own research. Brian
