Hello Tom I don't see the 1799 marriage in the Suffolk FHS indexes for Bosmere & Loes Deaneries (including Offton & Easton) or Ipswich. But Sheriff KEEBLE certainly lived at Offton. The auction of his household furniture and dairy & brewing utensils (a substantial amount of goods) was advertised in the Ipswich Journal on 20 Dec.1806. Some local libraries give access to this and many other "19th Century British Library Newspapers". Or you can join Lancashire's Online Reference Library (http://www.lancashire.gov.uk/libraries/borrower/join.asp). There's no sign of a will for either Sheriff or Bridget at Norwich (http://www.norfolksources.norfolk.gov.uk) or London (http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/documentsonline/browse-refine.asp?CatID=6) so it would be worth asking the SRO in Ipswich (ipswich.ro@suffolk.gov.uk). To: SUFFOLK-L@rootsweb.com Greetings - I'm hoping one of you can help with this marriage. Bridget SOUTHGATE was left a widow when Jonathon died March 1799 in Offton. An internet source suggests that 'Bridget widow Southgate' married Sheriff KEEBLE 30 Sept 1799. That source also says he was born in Easton and died in 1806. I can find no other sign of the existence of this Sheriff. I have found a possible Bridget KEEBLE living in Ipswich in 1841 and a burial in 1846. Can anyone please verify this marriage? - could be in Easton or Ipswich perhaps? Any help would be really appreciated. Tom Southgate
Many thanks to Sue and David - that certainly seems to be our man. The only other clue I gleaned from the 'online site' was that Sheriff & Bridget had a daughter 'Maria Esther Keible Keeble' b. 1 Dec 1800 at Ipswich. I will be out of touch for a couple of days, but look forward to any further thoughts you may have. Regards to All Tom Southgate
