    3. Folks, Every week or so (or whenever the digest gets to about 20 KB), I'm forwarding to the List those posts that have been "gatewayed" from RootsWeb's SUFFOLK Board that might contain information of interest to List subscribers, and here's the current "digest" of such gatewayed posts. If you wish to respond to any of these gatewayed posts, please do so by clicking on the relevant "Message Board URL:" link and NOT by responding either to the list OR to my address as the digest poster. Board posters will not see your List response unless they are also subscribed to the List, and most are not. PLEASE also be careful about responding to any post and inadvertently re-posting the ENTIRE digest to the list! More information on RootsWeb's Boards can be found at: http://boards.RootsWeb.com/boardfaq.aspx#undefined , and the Board "home page" is at: http://boards.rootsweb.com/?o_iid=33216&o_lid=33216 . If you have any questions about the Boards or what the following is, pls contact me off-list at: mailto:SUFFOLK-admin@rootsweb.com . Thanks, Peter SUFFOLK List Admin. -------------------------------------------------- Re: parish records lookups This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Would be wonderful if you could find her in the Offton PR's; Sarah was my great, great grandmother. She married James SHOPLAND in Westminster on 1 Feb 1835. Regards, Pam Tyghe(Chambers) Nowra, Australia PS Do you have Little Stonham ancestors? We have a Robert STEPHENSON b. 1835 in our tree; he was the son of Benjamin STEPHENSON, my husbands great, great, great grandfather. -------------------------------------------------- Re: parish records lookups This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. It's fabulous as I now not only have a great, great, great grandfather Samuel, I possibly have a g, g, g, grandfather Samuel CRANFIELD also! I'm now going to pester you for some more information if I may? As there is a record of a Samuel CRANFIELD being buried in Offton on 15 April 1800, I'm guessing that his son Samuel (Emma's husband - gets confusing with all these 'Samuels') was also born in Offton around 1780. Can I get you to check whether the PR has a record of his baptism please and that of his father in 1731? (Although now looking at the dates, it may also be possible that the Samuel who died in 1800 could have been Samuel's - Emma's husband - grandfather?) Kind regards, Pam -------------------------------------------------- Re: Percy James (AKA Jim) Maddocks born 1885 This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Percy travelled alot ... he was in the timber trade and regularly traveled to Chile, Brazil and Africa. Liverpool fits as he lived in Liverpool with my grandmother. Gladys is a surprise but will look into it further. He married my grandmother in 1926. What is your interest in Maddocks? This all fits and confirms what I know. I have a very early photo circa 1900 of the family on holiday in Jersey. Percy definately served in the military ... I have his kit bag, medals etc but I cannot pick him up on any military records. My mother had reason to think he lived in Canada and was possibly married to someone called Zena??? His kit bag suggests he served in RCA. Thank you for all your help H -------------------------------------------------- Re: Percy James (AKA Jim) Maddocks born 1885 This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Confirm details as correct. Have birth details for him as Bosmere. Don't know when he served. I have his kit back and medals showing he did serve but my searches have led me nowhere. His kit bag states RCA which I believe to be Canadian and number is 131989. My mother always thought he had lived in Canada and had been married before possibly to a lady called Zena. He travelled a lot as he was in the timber trade and I have him coming in from Brazil and Chile and we know he travelled to Africa alot. He did not settle in Canada. He married my grandmother in 1926. His siblings remained in England and I do have some details for them. Thank you for all your help. Whats your interest in Maddocks? Your marriage is on the IGI (batch 8113891 sheet 31 call no 1260892) so the LDS may be able to send you the details on the original fiche. alternatively the local RO should be able to send you a copy (for a fee!) there's a lot of info from St Margarets online, including the Lowestoft cemetery index, with rather a lot of Gooches on it: http://www.waveney.gov.uk/cemeteries/lowestoft/lowestoft_gage_gowen.html looking at your threads the net seems to be closing on this one, hope it's the right connection!
