Does anyone have any information regarding the residence named MISSION COTTAGE, VIOLET HILL, STOWMARKET ? It is the address shown for one of my ancestors in 1881 and 1891. She was a widow and it would appear that there were several other families living at the same place. Was this some kind of parish sponsored accommodation for the poor or just one large house rented out to several families? I have googled to no avail although there appears to be a charitable organization in much the same area at the present time. Many thanks. Marj, There have been various nonconformist chapels near Violet Hill - Baptist, etc., so it may not have been from the Parish Church. Have you tried the Stowmarket mailing list?
