    1. [SFK-UK] To John McLinden re Look-ups

    3. John, I'm concentrating on other areas at present, but will hope to come to Suffolk next year to intensify my researches. But I'm puzzled by your 2nd last paragraph below. In other counties most (not some) early registers are lost. I'm most familiar with Cornish records and no 16th century registers at all are preserved in that county. What is preserved for some parishes are Jacobean copies made in response to laws starting in the time of Elizabeth I, and amended in Stuart times. I'm also puzzled to know what it means for records to be too big to be photographed for fiche. I photograph a lot of documents, though I make ebooks from them rather than fiche and I have had to do with physically large documents (A0 or more) and lengthy records (up to 12000 pages). 3. Ken, when photographing parish registers for fiche, some of the records were too big and they are available on rolls of film at the Suffolk Record Office. Perhaps technology has moved on ? You could always check with the Suffolk Record Office to see if you can offer your services to them ? You can find out what fiches are available to purchase here http://www.suffolk.gov.uk/LeisureAndCulture/LocalHistoryAndHeritage/SuffolkRecordOffice/Services/CopyingServices.htm Pat ... ---- Original Message ----- From: "Ken Ozanne" <kenozanne@bordernet.com.au> To: <suffolk@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, January 06, 2011 10:17 AM Subject: [SFK-UK] To John McLinden re Look-ups > John, > I'm concentrating on other areas at present, but will hope to come to > Suffolk next year to intensify my researches. > > But I'm puzzled by your 2nd last paragraph below.
