Following on from this thread in Nivard's letter,he is so right with his comments below. As a long term member of the Norfolk list the decline in postings since the Norfolk Parish Registers have been available online is huge, just down to a trickle some days.I used to visit the record office at least once a week and i would always help listers if possible with look-ups,but that has all gone now unless a particular parish register is not on the IGI.pilot search. So ,yes it is important to keep our mailing lists active otherwise we all lose out. Quite so Richard It is such a vast subject that no one person will ever know all there is to know about it, so a great reason for discussions on the list I have noticed the slow decline of the lists over the last couple of years, as you suggest mostly due to the greater accessibility to online records be that by subscription or via the likes of the LDS There is so much knowledge in the lists subscribers experience that it would be a great shame for it to dwindle away for lack of posts Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) > Following on from this thread in Nivard's letter,he is so right with his > comments below. As a long term member of the Norfolk list the decline in > postings since the Norfolk Parish Registers have been available online is > huge, just down to a trickle some days.I used to visit the record office at > least once a week and i would always help listers if possible with > look-ups,but that has all gone now unless a particular parish register is > not on the IGI.pilot search. > So ,yes it is important to keep our mailing lists active otherwise we all > lose out. > Happy new year to you all, > Richard Myhill
