I am writing to provide an update on the 1871 Suffolk FreeCen project. Another 2 pieces have been uploaded to the on line database and are now searchable for free on the main freecen site at http://www.freecen.org.uk These are pieces RG101733 Stowmarket which covers the parishes of Great Finborough, Combs, Little Finborough, Harleston, Haughley, Dagworth, Old Newton, Stowmarket, Gipping, Creeting St Peter, Stowupland RG101738 Eye which covers the parishes of Stuston, Thornham Magna, Thornham Parva, Thrandeston, Yaxley, Stoke Ash, Thorndon All Saints, Occold Redlingfield This means that there are now 131,845 (41.7%) 1871 Suffolk census records available to search free on line. Many thanks to all the volunteers who have given their time freely to help the project without their help this information would not be available. There is still much to be done and if you would like to help please contact me on bandys@worldonline.co.uk I still have plenty of 1871 areas available for transcription so if you fancy having a go please contact me.
