Hi Nivard I have access to lots of the records for cambs here at Home. or I can have access once a week.. No probs... Honor Please don't judge me on what I have achieved, but what I have overcome. Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive well preserved body. Rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!" ________________________________ From: Nivard Ovington <ovington1@sky.com> To: suffolk@rootsweb.com Sent: Wednesday, 22 September, 2010 20:37:39 Subject: Re: [SFK-UK] BROWNING Ousden circa 1777 Hi Honor Thanks for checking for me, I did think there may be a problem with this line for some reason Unfortunately the only source of the information that he was a Gentleman Farmer of Great Wilbraham came from another researcher some years back, I have nothing to corroborate it as yet It may yet be an interesting case as Dorothea is said (by a completely different researcher) to be a cousin of Robert BROWNING the poet Thanks again for looking for me Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) > There is only One BROWNING Recorded in Little Wilbraham Marriages, An > Ethelreda > in the 1600's > and None at all in Great Wilbraham. To help locate the stud/building/area of Newmarket called Little Carlow, you might find the Newmarket Local History Society helpful. If you scroll to the bottom of the home page there is a link to Rod who is the Local History Recorder for Newmarket. http://www.newmarketlhs.org.uk/ Pat ... www.slhc.org.uk ----- Original Message ----- From: "Darlene" <darlenes@bigpond.net.au> To: <SUFFOLK@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, September 21, 2010 7:18 AM Subject: [SFK-UK] Rowell & Webb clipped ..... > I would love some history on Ann to add to my research. I know the Newmarket area quite well and can't think of a place called Little Carlow, however there is a Carlow in Ireland, and Newmarket has strong links to Ireland through Horseracing - could it be the name of a house in Newmarket perhaps to link back to Ireland? Bit of a long shot but who knows? You're welcome, Tom. You don't say whether you've been able to contact the provider of the data, presumably Marilyn Whyley of Ontario, Canada, whose Public Member Tree is online at Ancestry. Are you a subscriber? David Date: Wed, 22 Sep 2010 07:32:42 +1200 From: Tom Southgate <Tom.Southgate@clear.net.nz> Many thanks to Sue and David - that certainly seems to be our man. I will be out of touch for a couple of days, but look forward to any further thoughts you may have. Regards to All Tom Southgate
Hello Alec Francis Capper BROOKE's will was proved at Ipswich on 19 July 1886. His personal estate was valued above £91,000. The probate entry is not hard to find in the index of wills and administrations, especially for subscribers to Ancestry, which now provides the National Probate Calendar of England & Wales (1861-1941) at http://search.ancestry.co.uk/search/db.aspx?dbid=1904. I think you would be able to view the will at the probate registry in Ipswich or London, or order a copy by post from York (see http://www.hmcourts-service.gov.uk/cms/1183.htm and http://www.hmcourts-service.gov.uk/cms/1226.htm). Greetings - I'm hoping one of you can help with this marriage. Bridget SOUTHGATE was left a widow when Jonathon died March 1799 in Offton. An internet source suggests that 'Bridget widow Southgate' married Sheriff KEEBLE 30 Sept 1799. That source also says he was born in Easton and died in 1806. I can find no other sign of the existence of this Sheriff. I have found a possible Bridget KEEBLE living in Ipswich in 1841 and a burial in 1846. Can anyone please verify this marriage? - could be in Easton or Ipswich perhaps? Any help would be really appreciated. Tom Southgate
