Would like to know the births and baptisms of ALL of the children born to John Mallows born 7 August 1789 in Flixton By Bungay, Suffolk and Elizabeth Sayer born (I believe in Mettingham, Suffolk) born about 1789. They were married 25 or 29 September 1810 (not sure of marriage place if in Suffolk or Norfolk), could be in Mettingham in Suffolk or Alburgh in Norfolk. Cheers Robyne Moran

The marriage was at Alburgh (details from the http://search.labs.familysearch.org/ site sent off-list), and the groom was of "Lodden English", which I assume is Lodden. Regards Peter
Hi All, This is my first time posting on this list and I would really appreciate some assistance. I am trying to trace the origin of HANNAH JARVIS who was convicted of taking part in the Downham Market food riots in 1816 at the Norwich Assizes and transported to Australia. Hannah was born about 1780, two of her children later immigrated to Tasmania to join their mother. WILLIAM JARVIS born about 1801 HANNAH JARVIS born about 1802 I have been trying to find families that fit this description in the local areas. One such family is WILLIAM JARVIS married HANNAH HUNT on 29 October 1798 in LOWESTOFT, Suffolk. Children: HANNAH jr. b. 2 Dec 1799 Lowestoft, Suffolk WILLIAM jr. b. 18 April 1801 ELIZABETH b.14 Feb 1803 ROBERT b. 28 Nov 1805 JOHN HUNT b. 22 June 1804 JAMES b. 27 Sep 1807 MARY ANN b. 23 Jun 1809 I was wondering if anyone has a connection to this family or can find out if William or Hannah junior and senior had marriage or death records for England. My Hannah senior states she is a widow in 1818. regards Janine

Well spotted :-( I was of course just showing how transcripts (my own) are prone to error (hem hem <vbg>) No, it was most certainly *1696* but as I said you can look yourself at Archive.org its free Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) > Hi Nivard > > Thanks for taking the time to do the lookup for us. > I'm confused > Was that 1696 or 1896? > > Linda > B.C. > Canada > > Hi David > > You can download the PRs to 1800 (marriages & Baptisms) for St James Bury > St > Edmunds from Archive.org > > >From that publication > > Bury St Edmunds St James > > 1896 > Oct 15 > Edward HERVEY (or HERNEY) of Troston & Ann CURTIS of this Parish > > Two transcripts incorrect ? > > Sounds a little unlikely > > Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK)
Folks, Every week or so (or whenever the digest gets to about 20 KB), I'm forwarding to the List those posts that have been "gatewayed" from RootsWeb's SUFFOLK Board that might contain information of interest to List subscribers, and here's the current "digest" of such gatewayed posts. Yes, like you I only get to see this occasionally, so sorry for the delay! Well the best way to trace me in the family is to go back from Francis and Lillian. I guess Francis' father would be Edwin Francis Stebbing. His father was Francis John Stebbing, who was married twice. Your side of the family came from the second marriage, but before that Francis John eloped with Caroline Hennessey and sailed to Melbourne, Australia at the time of the gold rush. Whilst there he had a son, also called Francis Edwin (confusing!). The Stebbings built up an "intercolonial" circus in Australia, but then (so it was said) on the way home the circus was destroyed by fire and Caroline also died. The only son of their marriage started again in England, planning to sire a troupe of acrobats. He had one son, but seven daughters, so a dancing troupe rather than an acrobatic one. This was my grandma and her sisters. So that leads to me. I live in Cornwall(UK): was a performing arts/theatre lecturer for a long time, but am now a professional storyteller. So I guess performing still runs in the blood! -------------------------------------------------- looking for my uncle This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Hello Colin, I agree with the information you have provided and thank you for Joseph E Carter's death index. On some Ancestry trees John Carter's birth varies from 1794 - 1818 and I feel his birth is circa 1817 because of the 'permission to marry' in 1846. His (John Carter) death is 1851 gives his age as 57 years however this could be a transcribing error, which is quite easy to do when trying to read some handwriting with poor quality of old records. I 'think' Joseph is the father of John Carter as their names are one beneath the other on the Suffolk Assizes. There is an application for permission to marry a free woman Mary Ann Willett in 1846 in New South Wales. The records show he arrived on the Prince George. Joseph Everett Carter born circa 1781. Gives age as 55 years in the trial. Crime and sentence the same as John Carter. Also arrived New South Wales on the 'Prince George'. I wonder if they father and son. Joseph 'may' have died in New South Wales in 1863. They were sent from Edmund St Bury according to one Hulk report. I would like to prove or disprove that John Carter the convict married Mary Ann Willett, born 1829, daughter of George Willett and Sarah Maria Tomkins. Some Osbornes in that locality were non-conformists. I suggest that you check Wattisham Baptist church in case there are some records of your family there - I know that an Elizabeth Osborne was baptised there on 8 August 1789. I am unable to move back any further, so I am hoping to get some help here once again The couple I am interested in is Robert Osborne and his wife Lydia, living in the vicinity of Stow and later, Old Newton I have not found a marriage record so do not know the wife's surname, but the couple had several children Robert OSBORNE 1812, George OSBORNE 1814, Samuel OSBORNE 1817, Eliza OSBORNE 1821, Sarah OSBORNE 1826, John OSBORNE 1828, Mary Ann OSBORNE 1834 I am hoping someone can help me. In a previous email to this list I explained I was creating an Excell spread sheet of the O*SBO*RN* family in Suffolk by location ( Parish). The source of the entries was the old IGI Fiche and the spread sheet contains some 3000 entries, to which I will add as I find them by searching on line via Ancestry.com and Family search. If anyone would like a copy I would be happy to email you one, so contact me directly Philip H. White in New Hampshire USA, Roots in Sussex and IOW
